Naar aanleiding van het gesprek dat ik gevoerd heb met Aidyn is mij duidelijk geworden dat wij als sociaal werkers opletten met vooroordelen, maar wel gebruik maken van onze intuïtie. Op moment dat er een casus ingelezen moet worden ingelezen ontwikkel je al een soort van beeld waarin je mogelijke scenario’s maakt. Doormiddel van deze scenario’s kun je hypotheses maken en controleren bij de cliënt.

Technisch gezien is het mij duidelijk, dat wij in Nederland meer gebruik maken van technieken op individueel vlak. In Engeland werken ze meer met de bevolking en groepen ter preventie van problematieke op grotere schaal binnen de maatschappij. Mijn mening is dat een soort van centraal bureau van statistieken ontwikkeld moet worden die bevolkingsproblematiek in beeld kan brengen, waarbij een groep maatschappelijk werkers doelen kunnen stellen dit op grotere schaal aan te pakken.

In de UK is het ook mogelijk na je bachelor door te studeren op universitair niveau. Dit kan in Nederland niet en ik vind dit zeer jammer.

Following the interview I've conducted with Aidyn became clear to me that we as social workers should watch out with having prejudices, but should use our intuition. At the time that a case needs to be read, you develop a kind of image that makes possible scenarios. Through these scenarios, you can create hypotheses and check these with the client.

Technically, it is clear to me that we in the Netherlands make more use of techniques at the individual level. In England, they work more with the people and groups to prevent problems more widely within society. My opinion is that some sort of central bureau of statistics must be developed in the Netherlands. The reason for this is, so that a group of social workers can combine there strangest to fight society problems in a bigger scale.

I also realized that in the United Kingdom you can continue studying if you have your Bachelor of Social Work. You can, continue another 2 years study at university level. Unfortunately, this is not possible in the Netherlands and this I regret.
